Rupayan Gupta is the Associate Dean of the Mario J. Gabelli School of Business and Professor of Economics at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ University. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics from Iowa State University in 2005, and with previous education from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta (undergraduate degree) and Delhi School of Economics (Master’s degree). His areas of expertise are Public Economics, Political Economy, and the Economics of Conflict. His research includes designing international institutions for global security, analysis of conflict in disputed regions, corruption in the media, and the study of global remittance patterns. This research has been published in prestigious journals like the Canadian Journal of Economics, Public Choice, Southern Economic Journal, Defense and Peace Economics, among others. He has been named a Hassenfeld Fellow and a Davis Fellow at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ University. Rupayan has taught courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Game Theory, Public Finance, Political Economy, and Economics of Conflict. A long-standing member of the university’s Senate Curriculum Committee and General Education Curriculum and Planning Committee, Rupayan has been interested in curricular and general education issues. He served as the inaugural Faculty Director of General Education at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ University, facilitating the introduction of the new general education program. As Associate Dean, he has contributed towards the expansion of the business program at RWU, notably through the introduction of new programs in Entrepreneurship and Sports Management, as well as a STEM-designated Business Analytics track in the MBA program.
