BRISTOL, R.I. – One ӰƵ University student is redefining what it means to be leaders in the blue economy through the university’s innovative Blue Fellows Program. The initiative connects undergraduates with hands-on internships and experience in science and sustainability. This summer, Mackenzie Wolfe ’26 applied her diverse academic backgrounds in creative and scientific fields to promote sustainable marine solutions and education.

Wolfe, a Marketing and Graphic Design double major from Cornwall, N.Y., spent her summer at , a marine tech startup headquartered in Bristol, R.I. The company develops all-electric outboard motors, positioning itself at the forefront of clean marine transportation technology.

“We had over 350 applications for our internship program this summer, and Mackenzie was our first choice,” said Christine Parker, Director of Talent at Flux Marine. “Her combination of great attitude, work ethic, and social media and graphic design expertise was just what we needed.”

Originally an Environmental Science major, Wolfe transitioned into marketing and design but never lost her commitment to conservation. “I love everything about sustainability and helping shape the future of what is to be,” said Wolfe. “I am excited about being able to contribute my skills to a company that is deeply focused on building a sustainable blue future.”

She views her experience as a preview of her ideal career path – merging digital communication with environmental impact. “Working at a company like this is such a blend of what I am learning at ӰƵ,” said Wolfe. “I am gaining these skills outside of the classroom, and it is going to be beneficial in the future wherever I end up.”
